The
final designs presented to American Standard are an interesting mix of yesterday,
today and tomorrow. This model expresses the flow of water, with the grand
urn offered forward for the user. It has flavors of retro with flat tank
and traditional handle location. The clean lines and simple forms were applauded
by American Standard. Along with several other designs from other firms,
our two toilets were sent through detailed marketing studies. This design
was judged as a favorite among consumers. Although in the end American Standard
chose another design that scored high overall when compared to the competitors’
more "modern" looking toilet, our design was very popular. In
an evolving market that has shown an unforetold desire for things "retro,"
our design might have proved the correct decision for American Standard.
