Because there is no point in leading an organization down a path that fails to coincide with its budgetary requirements, we began this project with detailed cost studies integrated with the initial concept phase. Frequently, product-cost requirements and the choice to launch a product are so intertwined that key business decisions can only be made while exploring alternatives in design. As a starting point, we dissected competitors products and then produced cost estimates for every component of every changing table on the market. This enabled our client to envision exactly where they wanted to be with respect to the rest of the market and also provided valuable information for our development purposes. By studying what others did right as well as wrong, we were able to define clearly our design objectives.
