We have all heard the saying "form follows function". This is often true. However, form also enables function. We prefer not to think of aesthetics as something applied as an afterthought to simply "dress up" a product. Form, style, and a product's aesthetics are always functional because they provide meaning to material things. Sometimes this is achieved quite literally, as shown here in this grillwork. The repeating flame-like forms convey the idea of warmth, fire, and the dissipation of heat. Other times, the message is more emotional and subtly communicated as with the delicate window treatment. The vertical bars convey a secure, authoritative character, while also providing traditional window lines. Whether aesthetics are conscious or unconscious, they always have meaning. At Henninge we integrate this type of thinking into strategic creations that cater to our clients business and marketing goals.
