Eight years later, the final co-injected product is still being produced and sold by Kerma—an unusually long product life for this seasonal industry. In our design we specified an outer soft polymer that has a high-friction coefficient that actually becomes stickier when wet, thus making it easier to grip. The inner structural core gives the product color and rigidity, and also allows for efficient production. Different pole diameters can be accommodated by changing these cores without having to use expensive tooling inserts. We intentionally expressed a "snow drift" aesthetic in the soft and comfortable forms, which also supported notions of wind tunnels and speed—perfect for a racing ski-pole grip. This product is used by Olympic gold-medallist Tommy Moe.
